What we stand for

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. Seizures are episodes of abnormal electrical activity in the brain that can cause a variety of symptoms, including convulsions, loss of consciousness, and strange sensations or behavior. Epilepsy is a common disorder, affecting about 50 million people worldwide.

Epilepsy can have a significant impact on a person's life. Seizures can be disruptive and embarrassing, and they can make it difficult to work, go to school, or drive. People with epilepsy are also at an increased risk of accidents, injuries, and social isolation.

What are epileptic seizures?

A seizure happens when there is a sudden, intense burst of electrical activity in the brain.

This causes the messages between cells to get mixed up. The result is an epileptic seizure.

How a seizure affects you depends on what area of the brain is involved in this intense electrical activity.

  • Stay with them until recovery is complete
